Mariana Mitrofan, from Voloave Municipality, Soroca raion, is recognised and appreciated in its community for the traditional “Baba neagr” Deservant. Fitted with wood, it follows a genuine recipe, inherited from grandfathered, keeping the inconfundable gustaining of the local tradition.
In order to achieve the product, The Mariana uses only natural and environmental ingredients, which it exercises from home households, thus supporting the local economy. A few years ago, she decided to develop a cofession workshop at home and launched a small production line. Desiring to keep the family spirit of the business, involved the mother and time in preparing the deserts, thus transforming the passion for confection into a family business.
The Antreprenosis obtained a grant from the European Union through the Organisation for the Development of Entrepreneurship. Under the female Entrepreneurship Support Programme, it benefited from a grant of RON 200000. The funds were invested in the acquisition of a modern set of equipment for the maintenance of ingredients.
“New machinery gives us the opportunity to increase our production capacity. We plan to expand the business and distribute the desert famous, Black Baba, in the networks of supermarkets in the Republic of Moldova. Our biggest dream is to enter the Romanian market as well," said Mariana Mitrofan.
The Antreprenosis additionally obtained a grant of RON 30000 from the Government, via measure E-Trade. With these funds, the Mariana plans to launch an online platform dedicated to the promotion and sale of its products. With this initiative, the famous desert Baba neagr will be able to reach the meals of as many consumers as possible, thus increasing the accessibility and knowledge of the business.
In 2024, the Women’s Entrepreneurship Support Programme had a significant impact, supporting 61 business women with grants totalling lei 17.7 million. Total investment generated in the economy reached lei 27.4 million, thus contributing to the development of the female entrepreneurial sector and to economic growth.
The programme is financed by the Government of the Republic of Moldova and the European Union.
