Premiums 13 companies from the Republic of Moldova today signed grant contracts with the Organisation for the Development of the Small and Medium-sized Enterprises Sector through The greening of the SMI. These access up to RON 200 thousand for the implementation of business greening actions, which constitute up to 70 % of the amount of the investment project. The signature of the contracts was done via electronic signature in an online event.

Present at the event, Lilia Palii, Secretary General of the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure he mentioned that his institution supports entrepreneurs in the country who want to reduce the environmental impact of economic activity and provide green services.

Reducing the environmental impact of businesses, and in particular SMEs, is a key success factor in greening the economy. Improving environmental performance is also a significant business opportunity for SMEs as important suppliers of goods and services. And applying sustainable production and consumption patterns will help make resource use more efficient, promote exports and create new jobs’.

The support will help companies to position themselves on a new stage of development and serve as models to promote local best practices on reducing the environmental impact of economic activity’.

The amount of non-repayable funding provided by the State to the 13 business by means of The greening of the SMI it will be about RON 2.1 million. The total value of the investments for the implementation of the greening actions undertaken by these companies is around RON 4 million. The investment projects selected for funding target the uptake of environmentally friendly practices, in the areas of responsible energy use, resources along the value chain, as well as raw material management, waste recycling and reuse.

The greening actions proposed by companies aim to: replacement of the conventional energy source by the installation of photovoltaic panels; reducing energy consumption through the implementation of thermal recovery systems; transforming organic waste into high-quality protein for the fisheries sector, livestock farming, water resource management through the installation of the treatment plant; the introduction of equipment enabling the recycling of textile waste raw materials; recycling of cold pressed oil filtering waste and its use in cosmetology;recycling of waste from the process of restoring tyres and producing pavements, jetties, etc.

The LOW Greening Programme was approved by the Government of the Republic of Moldova by Government Decision No 592 of 27 November 2019, with a piloting period of 36 months, and implemented by ODIMM in coordination with the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure. Through this SME Programme, SMEs can benefit from: a) training and education in the field of greening SMEs; small grant of up to RON 200 000, which will constitute up to 70 % of the value of the investment project; non-repayable financing of a high value of up to RON 500 000, which will constitute up to 50 % of the value of the investment project.
