The government supports Moldovan companies to adapt to the global demands and trends of the green economy. Thus, 38 companies were selected to access grants of up to RON 200 thousand from the State, which constitutes up to 70 % of the amount of the investment project, for the implementation of business greening actions. A decision to do so was taken today by members Coordinating Committee of the LEU Greening Programmemanaged by ODIMM. Thus, supporting the domestic business environment in the application of sustainable production and consumption patterns will help to make resource use more efficient, promote exports and create new jobs.

The amount of non-reimbursable financing provided to the 38 businesses amounts to approximately RON 5.8 million. The total value of the investments for the implementation of the greening actions undertaken by these companies is approximately RON 11 million.

The investment projects selected for financing shall be geared towards the uptake of environmentally friendly practices in the areas of water resource management, responsible energy use, as well as raw material recovery, waste recycling and reuse. Of the total number of projects accepted for funding, 24 businesses are located in rural areas and 14 in the municipality of Chisinau. At the same time, 18 companies are active in the service sector, 13 in the industrial sector and 7 in the agri-food sector.

14 companies accepted for funding opted for greening actions on the efficient management of water resources through waste water treatment and its use for surface irrigation or company needs, and 9 for the introduction of equipment allowing waste recycling.The other investment projects aim at reducing energy consumption through the implementation of thermal recovery systems, air filtering ventilation systems, etc.

Entrepreneurs who have been accepted today for non-repayable financial support include the CALAC Rodica in Nisporeni. It operates a company specialising in the production of canned fruit and vegetables.

“In order to manage water resources efficiently and reduce energy consumption, we plan to purchase a successful fruit and vegetable washing line through the grant. We also want to procure a new waste water treatment plant”explained the entrepreneur.

Entrepreneur Călin Harti from Anenii Noi he is the manager of a company specialising in the production of organic packaging.

‘The company is a producer of recyclable and biodegradable bags, boxes, bags and packets, which we provide to economic operators in all areas of activity. With the help of the ODIMM grant, we will be able to obtain a waste baling machine that will allow us to press, bale and reuse them’noted Călin Harti.

The LOW Greening Programme was approved by the Government of the Republic of Moldova by Government Decision No 592 of 27 November 2019, with a piloting period of 36 months, and implemented by ODIMM in coordination with the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure. Through this SME Programme, SMEs can benefit from: a) training and education in the field of greening SMEs; small grant of up to RON 200 000, which will constitute up to 70 % of the value of the investment project; non-repayable financing of a high value of up to RON 500 000, which will constitute up to 50 % of the value of the investment project.
