Moldova’s National Women’s Forum gathered more than 300 participants
According to the PNFM President, an ambitious family of women has been created over the past 4 years whose momentum for change in their lives has been driven by the desire to overcome their limits, offering them the opportunity to surround themselves with women who think the same, understand what they need and what they want.
“We are committed to bringing new ideas and concepts to our meetings in order to maintain an advanced level of thinking and support in common development,” said the President of the PNFM.
Moldovan women run 27 % of businesses in the country and the majority – 85 % – are in urban areas, 60 % of which are in the capital.
Lilia Palii, Secretary-General of the Government of the Republic of Moldovahe mentioned that in modern society the role of women to change the world is increasingly prominent. In this regard, the Government of the Republic of Moldova is constantly seeking solutions for the most active involvement of women in political, social and business life. In this respect, several amendments have been made to the legislation of the Republic of Moldova, including the Electoral Code, which requires the participation of 40 per cent of women on electoral lists, and the Strategy for the Development of the Small and Medium-sized Enterprises Sector for the years 2012-2020 has been complemented by a new priority related to the development of female entrepreneurship in the Republic of Moldova, which was approved in June 2016. The Government also approved the pilot programme “Women in Business”, which will be run for three years by ODIMM and will target 300 women. In the draft state budget for the current year, RON 10 million is envisaged for this purpose. In addition to its own funds, the Government will also seek assistance from development partners.
Lilia Palii pointed out that ‘all the treasures of the Universe have them through women, and it is the woman who has the custom and tandnetwork to change the world’.
Ulziisuren Jamsran, Country Representative of UN WOMEN Moldovamentioned that the NEMP is a unique platform for achieving gender equality activities in the Republic of Moldova.
“It is very important that this event was organised in the context of the important steps taken by the Republic of Moldova, in particular on the political side, and taking over the experience of the countries with outstanding successes in this respect will contribute to Moldova’s rapid move towards European standards in different areas of activity,” said Ulziisuren Jamsran.
According to the UN WOMEN Country Representation, “No one should be left behind” it would be the motto that involves not only drafting laws or organising activities, but also aiming for outputs to target and reach those in need directly.
His Excellency, British Ambassador Lucy Joyce and Swedish Ambassador in Chisinau, Signe Burgstaller they mentioned that the countries they represented had remarkable successes on gender equality and were ready to pass on their experience to Moldova.
In this regard, the representatives of the Diplomatic Corps, accredited in Chisinau, stressed that partner countries will always support initiatives to involve women in all spheres of activity, including business, innovation, social, as the results of women will benefit the whole of society.
The Forum awarded the winners of the competition “7 principles of women’s empowerment”organised at the initiative of the UN WOMEN and the UN Global Compact. The winners are the companies:
1. Arina-S – a company with production and services in the light industry;
2. SRL DAC & MG- produces pastry products;
3. Valricardo-Felimateo SRL – produces and markets fruit, table grapes and currants produced by beekeeping;
4. Iradex-Textil – manufactures and sells knitted articles;
5. Edugame SRL – manufactures and markets educational wooden toys;
6. Ufloria SRL – growth of flowers;
7. ICS TDV Group SRL – manufacture and sale of paints, varnishes and mineral pigments for them;
8. Agrodon SRL – poultry farm;
9. AO European Skills without Limits, Revin-Pro, Association of Disabled Entrepreneurs of the RM – promotes women’s involvement in politics, female entrepreneurship, gender equality;
10. SRL Eco Răzeni, Floare de Cireș – catering company.
The 3 workshops that took place during the event discussed aspects of social entrepreneurship development in Moldova and the role of local public administration and non-profit organisations in the development of female entrepreneurship. Questions of the focus of these workshops is on the attractiveness of social entrepreneurship for business people, the role of local public organisations in promoting and supporting business in rural areas of the country, and the collaboration of all actors to ensure effective support for the development of small and medium-sized enterprises in the regions.
The workshops were also successful histories, which were carried out in the regions of the country.
The organisation of the second edition of the Forum joins the efforts of International Organisations to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals of Agenda 2030, which foresees a gender-equal planet, a world where women and men will enjoy equal rights and opportunities.
The National Platform of Women of Moldova (PNFM) is an Obasască, apolitical, non-profit association, operating in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova. This organisation was launched as an initiative by the Organisation for the Development of the Small and Medium-sized Enterprises Sector, in partnership with the International Centre for the Promotion of Women in Business in 2012 and institutionalised in 2016.
