Roman Chirica, an entrepreneur in the City of Chișinău, manages a farm de cows in the Holercani Sate, Dubăsari raion. Within the farm there is an increase of 280 bovine animals for milk production. Thanks to a grant from the Greening Programme for Small and Medium Enterprises, implemented by the Organisation for the Development of Entrepreneurship, Roman Chirica has managed to adopt innovative and efficient solutions to manage farm-generated waste.

It aims to build two basins for the storage of manure and purchase the machinery necessary for its processing in compost.

“We aim to use compost as a natural fertiliser for fertilising agricultural land. We are increasing the only animal feed and we had so far to buy chemical fertilisers to increase productivity. With the implementation of this project, we will make considerable savings, which we will redirect to farm development," mentioned the entrepreneur.

The total value of the investment amounts to 1 million lei. Of this amount, the entrepreneur received a grant of lei 500.000 provided by the Government of the Republic of Moldova and the remainder represents its own contribution.

The project is to be implemented in the next few months. Roman Chirica intends to expand and modernise farm infrastructure while exploring new outlets for its products. The entrepreneur is optimistic that once the greening project is completed, it will be able to obtain more advantageous prices for milk production, thereby strengthening the competitiveness of its business on the market.

Since 2022, almost 150 entrepreneurs have received non-repayable financial support for greening businesses through the ECO SME programme, managed by ODA. The total grant amounts to over 35 million lei.
