In the animate Gradiște, Cimișlia raion, the Strogotea family does not further advance the tradition of the rise of oun, a post-generational occupation. Nicolae Strogoteanu, together with his spouse and fatigue, manages an ovine farm in the Assaf rac, a recognised racour for its high productivity. The development of this business was not challenging, but accessing a grant under the PARE 1+ 1 programme managed by the Organisation for the Development of Entrepreneurship with the support of the Government of the Republic of Moldova and the European Union was a turning point for the Strogoteanu family.

“IF WE HAD NOT TAKEN THE FIRST GRANT FROM ODA, WE WOULD FIRST HAVE LOST CONFIDENCE THAT SOMETHING CAN BE DONE. It was a very high encouragement", testifies Nicolae Strogoteanu.

The Strogoteateanu family has always increased, but in order to turn this occupation into a profitable business, they needed investment. Thus, Nicolae moved to work across borders, where for two years it managed to raise an amount of money to invest in the farm. On return, it applied for the grant of RON 250000 through the PAR 1+ 1 Programme.

“FROM THE GRANT CONTRIBUTIONS, WE PROCURED A TRACTOR, A COLLECTOR AND A STREET. From its own contributions, we bought 38 by and from the Assaf breeding,” says Nicolae.

Today, their farm counts around 100 and produces high-quality milk traditionally processed to obtain artisanal cheeses.

The PARE 1+ 1 programme is an initiative for Moldovan migrants and their relatives, enabling them to obtain funding for the development of a business in the Republic of Moldova. The operating principle is simple: each leu invested by the entrepreneur is doubled through non-repayable financing, thus providing the necessary resources for the development of a sustainable business.

The European Union plays a key role in supporting entrepreneurship in the Republic of Moldova by financing programmes for economic development. It seems 1+ 1 is just one of the programmes supported by the EU, managed by ODA in cooperation with the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalisation to boost investment in Moldova and provide real opportunities for Moldovan entrepreneurs.
