A lot of work, perseverance and ability to seize state-provided business support opportunities is the business man’s recipe for success Nicolae Croitoru in the municipality of Chisinau. He runs a furniture manufacturing and marketing business. The entrepreneur, after a period of work in Italy, launched his business of producing furniture to order in 2015 under the brand name ‘Croitoru Cutting’ and, in order to expand and procure better machinery, used several State business support instruments.

‘In 2020, our company ‘INVEST EUROPEO’ SRL accessed grant funding through PARE programme, “1 + 1” rule in the amount of RON 250 thousandmoney that we invested in the machinery needed for the production process,” says Nicolae Croitoru.

After three years, he submitted the funding application for phase II of the same programme in order to benefit from an additional RON 500 thousand.

‘Our company currently employs 20 people, 80 % of whom are people returning home from abroad, has a turnover of RON 8.1 million, has a production hall with a surface area of 500 m² and produces around 180 units of kitchen furniture per month by individual design. The grant of RON 500 thousand made use of it for high-performance machines, namely the procurement of a CNC drilling centre to improve the quality of production. We want to offer consumers a quality and modern product at a real price’, he stressed the businessman.

And it did not stop there. He realised that a modern and consumer-friendly business needed to be digitalised. The entrepreneur claims that his experience of 10 years in Italy in a furniture company and 7 years in the Republic of Moldova allows him to combine the full spectrum of technologies in the manufacturing process. So he did not think much and submitted an investment project to Digital Transformation Programme and has also accessed a grant of RON 270 thousand. State money will invest in purchasing software and modules for digital furniture design to be competitive on foreign markets.

The entrepreneur urges entrepreneurial people, who return home from abroad, to set up their own business and can access grants of up to RON 1 thousand under the ‘PARE 2 + 250’ programme using the 1 + 1 formula, i.e. for each leu invested, the State allocates a further RON 1. Companies demonstrating continuity and growth can still benefit from an additional RON 500 for development.
