Visits to relatives in Italy inspired family Adelei Zastavnețchi. This means that from the holiday of the year 2019 returned with a new business idea — preparation of artisanal ice cream. The family already had a pizzerie restaurant open in city of Sângerei and there they also thought of bringing a new product.

The COVID-19 pandemic has been a real challenge for Adela. The woman is a career doctor working in the front line, but also the launch of the small ice cream business took place in the midst of the pandemic, specifically in August. Despite the unfavourable situation in the country and the restrictions imposed, however, the number of customers, who were eager to taste from artisanal ice cream, exceeded his expectations. He believed that the success from the start of the business was due to the warm summer month when the ice cream was in great search, but later he was convinced that also during the cold autumn months, the product enjoyed popularity among the local customers.

This achievement of the Zastavnețchi family it was made possible thanks to European financial support provided under the Women in Business Programme. Grant funding has been an enormous contribution to business development, says entrepreneur. From the money you accessed, the machine itself was procured to make ice cream, as well as other machines needed for cooling and freezing. The young woman hopes that the family business will face all the challenges. It is ready to continue fighting on the front line, both for the health of people and for the prosperity of its business.

The Women in Business programme was launched in autumn 2016 with the objective of promoting the economic and social ability of women in rural areas by reducing gender inequality, business growth and development, changing the perception of innovation, increasing access to resources, services and technologies. The programme is financed from the state budget and co-financed by EU funds.
