“Diaconia” is the social structure of the Basarabia Mitropolia operating throughout the Republic of Moldova in the year 2001.

Through the social projects it develops, already for 20 years Diaconia has helped people in need. Deaconry is known for programmes “The hairdress Bank” “Food Bank” “Mame sides” “To independence”etc. The initiatives launched are intended to promote solidarity and make a difference in society.

“Social forecasts shall be pioneering. It is extremely valuable that you can bring both an economic benefit and give people who are unable to hire or have no courage, or do not have the necessary skills. Unfortunately, poverty is not a form of material lack but a form of understanding of things, a lack of capacity to mobilise you.”

In his view Igor Beleiit is important both to encourage the launch social affairsand to support their development through assistance from the state and large businesses.

“Social affairs must be assisted, both through tax relief and financial injections.”

Initially, the business launched by Diaconia missionit was not intended as a social business, but as an activity that will generate profit, which was an error.

“We have developed an enterprise that wanted to hire people from the mother programme in cleaning services when these services did not yet exist in Chisinau. We have thought this business not as a social one, but as one that will make a profit. It was a mistake because, from the outset, we had to have this idea that it would have to be subsidised. Over the years the benefit was to change people who were employed.”

According to the Executive Director of Mission “Diaconia”social enterprises have an important role to play in the development of a country.

“It is extremely valuable to understand how much we cost a lack of investment in social services, how much it will cost us to continue assisting people who are not employed in work and generate costs.

It is extremely valuable to understand the lack of qualified frameworks, or even the frameworks that could be employed, because everyone complains that there are no employees. It is a form of return to society, for the large business, which can invest, assist social enterprises as a form of sharing the benefit.

Because all these people can then be employed in the large business.

It is extremely valuable for the authorities to understand social enterprises as part of the revival of the Moldovan labour market.”

Igor Belei it also states that a modern society is a society that supports social enterprises, which is why this kind of activities have a future.

“Social enterprises have a future and need to have a future in a modern society.”

“The social enterprise must be launched by a person who houses the business, who releases the product.”
