Adriana Ciobanu, salon nunta: Social entrepreneurs are certainly heroes of society
Adriana Ciobanu in the city of Dondușeni is manager of a sewing workshop and a mine laundry with a dry chemical cleaning reception point. Lounge ‘Wedding’ it is known for its services to all inhabitants in the north of the country. In the business launched, the woman is supported by her two sons, and in the future she hopes to be able to provide jobs for other disadvantaged women, thus engaging in social activity.
“We coexist to order for our customers, we provide high quality clothes repair services thanks to performing equipment and professionalism grown over time with great perseverance and desire, in addition to laundry services we offer wet/thermal processing of clothes, which is also a timely moment in the workshop work. Everyone in the north knows us. Sewing wedding dresses, evening dresses, making hande-made decorations, repairing clothes. My son grew very well, he also has the necessary education.”
In order to expand, Adriana Ciobanu is planning to create jobs for disadvantaged women in the locality, in particular she would like to support those ladies who raise their children on their own, as she too once experienced such a complicated situation, but through work and dedication she managed to increase them and now are business partners.
“As a single mother, I think it is important for women to find a job here at home. I say this is a key moment for the unification of families.”
Adriana Ciobanu believes that social activities should be promoted in the Republic of Moldova as a way to support the disadvantaged sections of society.
“Social entrepreneurs are certainly heroes of society. They are people trying to solve current problems, even if they face difficulties. They are positive, optimistic and perseverant.”
Even though Adriana Ciobanu has been in the business environment for 25 years, she says that she has gradually developed the business. It had even better and more difficult moments, but it managed to overcome all the problems well.
‘Originally, with the 90s, we rented tableware for weddings and various ceremonies. Then we started importing wedding dresses. Some time later, I decided to cook the dresses myself. Here, the eldest son, who has acquired the profession of tailor, also makes a special contribution. This is how we have reached what we are today.”
Campaign initiated and supported by the transnational Finance4SocialChange project, co-financed by European Union funds (ERDF, IPA, ENI). The aim of the project is to promote social impact and stimulate the development of companies interested in solving community problems. ODSME is a partner, along with 19 other institutions from 15 countries in the Danube region.
