Women in Business project – new opportunities for women entrepreneurs
The representative of the lead partner of the project, RalitsaZhekova, Executive Director of the Regional Agency for Entrepreneurship and Innovation in Varna, Bulgaria mentioned: “Before we started this project, we found that 52 % of the population in the Danube area is female and only 30 % of them are entrepreneurial. At the same time, only 10 % of young women under the age of 34 have the courage to start a business and only 2 % of them live for 42 months. In this way, we set out to launch this project and make it easier for women to take up entrepreneurship.”

“Young entrepreneurs from the Republic of Moldova are very creative and tend to come up with a new approach to the problems they face, have original thinking and are able to capture people with new ideas. This finding was made in the outcome of a study from the Women in Business project, "said Silvia Cangea, project manager, ODIMM.
Between September and October 2018, 202 young Moldovan women participated in the online survey as part of the project. The findings of this study suggest that 35 % of young women think about starting a business and only 15 % certainly intend to do so. At the same time, most young women who study or work do not even think about starting a business until they are sure that they have sufficient financial resources. Lack of financial resources is one of the main barriers women face in entrepreneurial activity, followed by lack of entrepreneurial skills.
Project “Women in Business – Promoting youth entrepreneurship in the Danube Region” is co-financed by European Union funds (ERDF, IPA, ENI) under the Danube Transnational Programme 2014-2020. It has an implementation duration of 36 months and is implemented by a consortium of 14 partners from 9 countries in the Danube Region: Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Germany, Slovenia, Hungary, Romania, Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Moldova.
