Women in Business Association successfully tested
Today, 100 women entrepreneurs from the Republic of Moldova participated in an exercise to test the formation of an association in a Workshop on “Advantages of Women’s Association in Business”, carried out by the Organisation for the Development of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (ODIMM) in partnership with the National Platform of Women of Moldova (PNFM), with the support of the European Union.
The practical exercise aims to identify and understand the benefits of women’s association in business and social life, as well as to know how to make resources more efficient, ensure competition, techniques, tools to encourage competition and attract customers.
Participants from different business spheres simulated the formation of 3 associations and generated preliminary joint project initiatives. The partnerships that were improvised helped them to become aware of the importance of associating in different areas of entrepreneurial activity.
The need to organise such an event arose as a result of internal expertise and individual discussions with the beneficiaries of the ODIMM Support Programmes and the members of the NFM.
In this context, Iulia CostinDirector-General ODIMM, President of the National Women’s Platform of Moldova said that women need proper training to be aware of both the advantages of joining an association and the importance of sharing experience between women.
“Business women across the country are aware of the need to create a multidimensional female partnership. Today we no longer live in definitions, but we create definitions, change concepts, defeat mindsets and have courage, "said Iulia Costin.
The EU supports such initiatives on business association.
“Strong business associations can play an important role in policy-making by removing the challenges faced by the business community and proposing smart solutions for decision-makers in the interest of society. They can also provide valuable services to members. The European Union supports a number of business associations in the Eastern Partnership region, including those led by women, to grow and become a relevant social partner. The role of women in such associations is crucial, as they can contribute to their success by transforming them into factors that contribute to positive change’, noted Boris Filipovproject coordinator in the EU Delegation.
Finally, 3 association models were created with concrete packages of services for its members. The results of the event are to be presented at the National Women’s Forum in Moldova on 14 December 2019.
