24.07.2024 Chisinau – The Small Producer Support Programme was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers. This programme aims to expand the number of small producers developing their business. Thus, companies with an annual turnover of up to lei 5 million and up to 9 employees will receive non-repayable funding of up to 70 % of the value of the investment project, up to RON 500 thousand. The beneficiary’s contribution will amount to at least 30 % of the project amount.

Small producers active for at least 12 months may participate in the scheme. Natural persons who are only planning to set up a business are also eligible if they can demonstrate the activity for the last year and register as an entrepreneurial entity within one month from the date of approval of the projects.

The small producer support programme shall target the following results:

— at least 100 companies will be financed;

— at least 50 % of the beneficiaries will experience increases in sales income of at least 10 % annually;

— at least 30 enterprises funded will be managed by women;

— at least 10 % of the funded companies will apply innovative and sustainable development elements.

— the increase in the volume of investment in the domestic economy, by approximately MDL 73.000.000, towards 2027;

— at least 300 educated entrepreneurs, of whom at least 30 % women, in entrepreneurial training courses on a variety of topics, including the use of sustainable practices in the business.

The financial support will take the form of non-repayable financing. From the grant account entrepreneurs will be able to purchase machinery and equipment, raw materials and building materials needed to furnish and fit the production space, franchising, digitalisation solutions and business development services. In addition to the funding component, the programme also provides for information, promotion, monitoring and evaluation activities.

The support programme for small producers has been developed by the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalisation and the Organisation for the Development of Entrepreneurship, which is also the institution responsible for carrying out the programme and drafting the operational manual for implementation, as well as a guide for entrepreneurs.

The programme will be launched in 2020 Q3 and implemented for 36 months, with an estimated budget of lei 20 million annually.
