The period of registration with the Training Component of the Women in Business Pilot Programme has been extended
The deadline for registration was extended to 30 April 2017. More than 350 women have so far expressed their wish to participate in Component I of the Women in Business Pilot. This phase involves training and mentoring the willing to launch their own business on the territory of the Republic of Moldova within the next 12 months of application to the programme. Some 30 % of applicants have opted to start or expand their business in the field of service provision, a further 30 % in the field of manufacturing, and 40 % wish to run businesses in agriculture, crafts, agri-tourism or mixed activities.
Most of the forms were filled in by beneficiaries in the centre of the country and in the municipality of Chisinau – around 70 per cent. Of the more than 350 women enrolled, 80 per cent have a university or postgraduate education and 26 per cent are unemployed.
The Women in Business programme was launched in 2016 with the aim of providing women with opportunities to engage in business in a professional manner, guided by experts in the field.
The Women in Business Pilot was launched by the Organisation for the Development of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (ODSME) and will provide support to women entrepreneurs at 3 different stages of business development.
Component I provides for the training and mentoring of more than 300 women who wish to start their own business in the territory of the Republic of Moldova within the next 12 months of application of the Programme.
Component II is intended for female entrepreneurs who manage business for less than 2 years. 100 female entrepreneurs will be selected for this strand and will receive grants for business development.
Under Component III, 10 companies will be selected, managed by women, active in the market for more than 2 years, aiming at large-scale investments to expand the market and promote exports. The grant amount will be around EUR 70 thousand.
