The Government and the European Union provide non-repayable funding of lei 12.2 million to another 45 companies in Moldova
5 December 2024, Chisinau — The Government of the Republic of Moldova and the European Union support local entrepreneurs through the Organisation for the Development of Entrepreneurship.
45 grant beneficiaries have been designated today. Their total value is lei 12.2 million, bringing the total investment in the economy to more than lei 22 million.
Out of these, 24 companies will benefit from EU funds totalling almost lei 5.5 million. The government of the Republic of Moldova will financially support 21 companies with a total amount of 6.7 million lei.
At the announcement event of the beneficiaries, Vice-President and Minister for Economic Development and Digitalisation, Dumitru Alaiba said: “We are another 45 entrepreneurs who have managed to access funds to grow and realise their dream. The Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalisation continues to have business support on its agenda.
It is entrepreneurs who believe in our country and are champions of reforms and European integration. It is also those who have perfectly integrated digitalisation into their business, being competitive and valorated. I am sure that any company, with state support, can grow and be successful, creating well-paid jobs, helping the community and developing the country’s economy”.

Vadim Codreanu, Director of the Organisation for the Development of Entrepreneurship, added:
‘Only through constant support and smart investment can we turn entrepreneurial initiatives into successful business that redefine the future of Moldova. Grant programmes, as well as the Government Programme 373, are strategic pillars through which local companies can access money for modernisation, expansion and integration in international value chains. Entrepreneurs need to innovate, improve production processes and expand their capacities.”
Grants are distributed through a number of programmes, managed by ODA, including the female entrepreneurship support programme, the START Programme for Young, the “PARE 1+ 2” Programme, the Digital Transformation of SMEs, the greening programme for small and medium-sized enterprises.
The largest investments are allocated to industry, with around 50 % of beneficiaries coming from this industry. Another 30 % of entrepreneurs will invest in the acquisition of technical means for the development of the service sector, such as professional, scientific, technical, accommodation, catering and education activities. Around 20 % of beneficiaries are active in the agricultural sector, where they will direct funds towards repowering and greening their businesses.
In the course of this year, the Organisation for Entrepreneurship Development facilitated 523 companies in accessing grants totalling more than lei 208 million. Of this amount, almost RON 149 million come from the state budget and lei 45 million were provided by the European Union through the EU SME project. Total investment in the economy amounts to lei 443 million.
Moreover, the World Bank, via the Programme for Growth of Export and Internationalisation of the HEIC, held 18 companies with funds worth lei 6.4 million.
Moreover, under the Digital Innovation and Startup Programme, 20 companies benefited from non-repayable grants amounting to lei 8.5 million, with the financial support of Ukraine-Moldova American Enterprise Fund, in partnership with the Viitor Technology Project, funded by USAID, Sweden and the United Kingdom.
