The European project for women entrepreneurs presented the results
The project totalisation conference was attended by representatives of the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Moldova, the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure (MEI) and the beneficiaries of the Baw project.
Aneil SinghThe Head of Cooperation, EU Delegation to the Republic of Moldova, highlighted the impact of the Business Academy for Women project, funded by the European Union, with the support of which it was possible to implement the project’s activities and reset the business environment among women, especially in rural areas. The European official reiterated that this project fits in with existing trends also at the level of the European community block of women’s economic empowerment.
According to the Secretary General of the MEI, Iulia Costinthe role of women in the economic development of a country and entrepreneurship in particular is crucial. By supporting female entrepreneurship, the authorities aim to develop a community focused on encouraging female entrepreneurship, to facilitate the exchange of experience between female representatives of the beautiful sex in our society. “I am happy to see that Moldovan women are active, open and motivated to explore business. The Moldovan government, through various financial instruments and national programmes to support SMEs, aims to develop a competitive business environment and, of course, a strong community of women entrepreneurs,” said Iulia Costin.
Petru Gurgurovacting Director-General ODIMM stated that developing female entrepreneurship is a priority for ODSME. “The Business Academy for Women project has taken an important step in developing female entrepreneurship by offering entrepreneurs training, mentoring and access to finance.
The success of this project is that 314 women female entrepreneurs from 20 of rayons have been trained in business development. 10 of these, focused on the development of manufacturing capacity, the introduction of technologies and innovations, or export orientation, are beneficiaries of business development grants of RON 120 thousand.
At the same time, 24 trainers representing 6 business support organisations from 6 regions of the Republic of Moldova increased their professional skills as trainers in trainings. The project contributed to the formation of a community of entrepreneurs and the creation of the “National Network of Women Mentors in Moldova”. An economically independent woman is a strength not only for the family but also for the whole society ", stressed Petru Gurgurov.Women with the best entrepreneurial ideas have obtained grants of RON 120 each to develop their business. The beneficiary of the grant, Svetlana Nițoreanu, from Căușeni referred to the importance of growth and development of entrepreneurial culture for the domestic business environment. “The knowledge and skills gained from ODIMM will help us export our products. Following the trainings, I started exploring potential market outlets. These initiatives like the “Business Academy for Women”, which aim to boost the business environment, are very welcome as they open up new horizons for managing and developing our business”.

The Baw project was funded by the European Union and implemented by the Organisation for the Development of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (ODIMM) in partnership with the International Centre for the Promotion of Women in Business (ICAWB). Baw offered Moldovan women the opportunity to realise their entrepreneurial potential by developing business management skills and facilitated women’s access to productive technologies to strengthen and increase the capacity of companies managed by them.
