The Minister of Economy, Sergiu Gaibu, together with the Acting Director of ODIMM, Dumitru Pîntea, undertook a working visit to Calarasi. Officials discussed with entrepreneurs and residents of the Business Incubator in the district about business support mechanisms, through ODSMEs, for the business environment in the regions.

The topics discussed concerned new opportunities for business development supported by the Government through entrepreneurial support programmes, state financial guarantees for bank loans, the development of local infrastructure and the stimulation of domestic producers.

The Minister of Economy, Sergiu Gaibu, stressed that the Government continues to support the business environment in the regions through a wide range of entrepreneurial support tools, but also by regulating the regulatory framework. “We are working to simplify legislation so that small and medium-sized enterprises, and in particular small, family-run businesses in the regions, have favourable conditions for doing business. Regulatory mechanisms for technical requirements are in the process of being put in place, as well as the simplification of tax reporting, which can be a real burden for small entrepreneurs. And I am always open to concrete and reliable suggestions that can improve the business environment”specified Minister Gaibu.

Dumitru Pîntea, Acting Director of ODIMM, reiterated that the ODSME budget to support SMEs this year will be unprecedented and will reach up to RON 500 million.

“ODIMM supports the development of entrepreneurship in the regions through 12 active state programmes, and other programmes will be adopted by the end of the year to meet the needs and expectations of small and medium-sized enterprises. Support from the state and external donors will be provided in the form of grants, financial guarantees for bank loans, but also for advice/mentoring in the development of investment projects, "said Dumitru Pîntea.

The interim Director of ODIMM also specified that the institution would strengthen the Network of 11 Business Incubators in Moldova to become the main promoters of economic development in the regions.
Officials also visited the businesses of the incubator’s residents, many of them started or developed their businesses through ODIMM support programmes.

IA Călărași was created in 2017 by the Organisation for the Development of the Small and Medium-sized Enterprises Sector, with the financial support of the European Union.

Between 2017 and 2021, 102 companies were incubated. Of the total number of resident companies, 34 are in the field of services and 8 are producing companies. 149 jobs are created in resident companies, 58 for women and 80 for young people. Occupancy rate of the AI space Calarasi – 100 %. The total turnover of companies is over RON 15 million.
