The Constitutional Court suspended the law providing for measures to support the population during the state of emergency, for which the Government assumed responsibility. The statement was made by Prime Minister Ion Chicu after the meeting of the Single Command Centre.

After this decision of the Constitutional Court, the Government is no longer entitled to: to obtain RON 2.775 in unemployment benefits, even though thousands of registered people have already applied for them. The Government cannot pay a guaranteed minimum monthly income, which has been increased from RON 1107 to RON 1300. The Government cannot pay RON 975 for children – an amount that has been increased from 553. The Government cannot reimburse to economic operators who pay salaries for March 42-45 % of the salary fund – the subsidy that has been approved. The government cannot exempt patenters (more than 8000 people who have not been able to work in the markets) from paying, which is why their patents are cancelled. The Government cannot lower the VAT rate for HoReCa from 20 to 15 %. The Government may not defer to 25 June the payment of local taxes for economic operators who are now obliged to pay. Otherwise they will be penalised.
The government cannot do this because the law is suspended following the referral of these politicians. This is the result of irresponsible and populist actions by politicians who provoked the suspension of that law. The law that entered into force on Tuesday, with the allocation of this aid strictly necessary for the population, cannot be applied. The submission of requests from individuals is stopped, ANOFM cannot receive these requests“, said Prime Minister Ion Chicu.

In those circumstances, Ion Chicu states that he will convene the Cabinet of Ministers at the meeting and the Commission for Exceptional Situations could also be convened to find solutions.
