TAIEX mission on generating a cluster model in the Republic of Moldova
The mission involved a number of thematic groups in 4 regions of the country. It started in Chișinău, with the participation of representatives of the Central Public Authorities, Education institutions, SME Sector Support Organisations and representatives of the private sector. At the same time, similar thematic groups were held in Nisporeni, Cahul and Soroca, representative for the Centre, South and North region, respectively.
The aim of the thematic groups was to identify the development potential of each region and to create an efficient collaborative model between business and policy makers that would directly contribute to increasing local competitiveness.

TAIEX experts, Daniel Cosșniță and Tim Buyse, noted the increased interest of the actors involved in these events. A report on the development directions in the four regions as well as industries with growth and clustering potential will be produced as a result of the thematic groups.
In the context, Daniel Coșniță, President of the Romanian Clusters Association, noted the importance of creating a system of concentration of resources at regional level dedicated to enhancing private sector competitiveness.
The mission was completed with the session to aggregate working groups in the regions and a preliminary mapping version of the future cluster was presented by experts.
The next TAIEX event will take place at the end of May and a cluster (pilot) model will be generated within it. The mission will be completed with a Workshop to present the methodology for setting up a cluster, the profile of the cluster generated and the project outline of the Clusters Support Programme in the Republic of Moldova.
