Standardised business advisory services accessible in the south of the country
Representatives of 8 Business Support Centres attended an information session today, 8 July, dedicated to tools used to consult small and medium-sized enterprises. The event was organised by ODIMM in the framework of the “South Moldova Open Gate for Business and Investment Promotion” project, in partnership with the National Services for SME Support Standardisation Project.
Improving the quality of the services provided at the Support Centres, upskilling in the standardised business advisory process and facilitating the exchange of best practices were the core objectives of the event.
At the start of the meeting, Petru GURGUROV, acting Director-General ODIMM, presented the main support tools offered by the institution to SMEs and stressed the importance of primary and secondary entrepreneurial consultation. “Quality entrepreneurial advisory services are key to starting or developing a business. Potential entrepreneurs are assisted and guided in correctly identifying the field of activity, sources of financing and additional services needed. These elements are very important for a successful business.”
Alexandru CIOBANU, Head of the Business Advisory and Assistance Centre (CCAA), explained to those present the steps and tools of the standardised business advisory process implemented by ODIMM and spoke about the concept of extending these services to the regions through Business Support Centres. He also presented the “Handbook of Consultancy Services”, which will allow for the standardisation of entrepreneurial services in all eight regional centres.
In this context, Takashi Kimura, Expert Japan Agency for International Cooperation (JICA), presented a Plan to Improve Standardised Business Advisory Services, to be implemented through the 11 business incubators. The plan has been developed for two years and will be implemented with the help of Japanese partners.
As of April, 8 Business Support Centres have been set up, providing both business advisory services and support to potential entrepreneurs in setting up and running a business to contribute to the balanced and sustainable development of the South Development Region. 4 business support spaces operate within the district councils of: Basarabeasca, Cantemir, Căușeni and Taraclia, and 4 others were opened at Business Incubators in: Cahul, Cimișlia, Leova and Ștefan Vodă.
The project ‘South Open Gateway of Moldova for Business and Investment Promotion’ is funded by the European Union under the Mayors for Economic Growth initiative and implemented by the Cimișlia Raional Council in partnership with the Organisation for the Development of the Small and Medium-sized Enterprises Sector (ODIMM) and the South Regional Development Agency (RDA South). The total budget is around EUR 336 thousand, for an implementation period of 18 months.
