Spectacular year-end for local companies: Government, together with development partners, accelerates competitiveness through grant programmes managed by ODA
23 December 2025, Chisinau 2025 comes to a strong end, marking a new impetus for the entrepreneurial environment: a further 79 local businesses will grow, receiving 35.5 million lei in grants, which will generate more than 58 million lei in investment in the national economy.
The grant is provided by the Government of the Republic of Moldova, which contributes 18.05 million lei to 61 companies.
In addition, out of the total of 79 designated companies, 18 companies benefit from grants totalling 17.5 million lei through Programme to increase the competitiveness of local producers and integration into value chainsfinanced by the Government and the World Bank Group through ODA and World Bank Competitiveness Improvement Project Implementation Unit.
Designated companies already provide jobs for 686 people, and once funded projects are implemented, they will generate at least 298 new job opportunities in their communities.
The support provided contributes to increasing economic competitiveness, increasing wages and strengthening local development potential.
At the start of the event, the State Secretary at the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalisation, Natalia Selevestru, said:

It is entrepreneurs who turn public policies into tangible results, and our mission, as a state, is to provide them with real tools for growth and competitiveness. Through well-targeted support programmes and constant dialogue with business, we are laying the foundations for an economy that creates opportunities, strengthens local communities and offers sustainable prospects for future generations. Moldova can and must be a place where work, innovation and courage are rewarded.”

Strengthening access to finance, creating a predictable business environment and sustaining productivity growth are essential. These joint efforts contribute directly to job creation and long-term income growth”stated Aureliu Casian, Executive Director of the World Bank’s Competitiveness Improvement Project Implementation Unit.
Speaking about the new lines of business support and the role of ODA in strengthening the competitiveness of local companies, Vadim Codreanu, Director of the institution, stressed the importance of making integrated use of government programmes and instruments:
“Today, ODA proposes a full growth ecosystem for entrepreneurs. From grants to concessional financing through the “We are investing BGK’, ‘We are Impact’ and ‘Government programme 373“we are providing solutions that can turn investment plans into sound and competitive businesses. We recommend entrepreneurs to combine these tools with “Local Supplier Development Programme“, which provides free of charge personalised advice and plans so that every leu invested generates real added value, performance and access to both the internal and external market.”
Since the beginning of the year, 810 companies have benefited from grants awarded through the Entrepreneurship Development Organisation for a total amount of 346.4 million lei. This support generated more than 653 million lei of planned investments in the national economy.
Of all beneficiaries, 536 companies were financed from the state budget, 156 received support from the European Union through the ‘European Union for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises’ project, and 111 companies were supported through the Government-funded programme and the World Bank Group. Seven companies also benefited from support through the EU4Moldova Local Communities programme, funded by the European Union, the German, Austrian and Polish governments, and implemented by GIZ, ADA and SFPL in Moldova.
