Organisation for the Development of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (ODSME) from the Republic of Moldova carried out Webinar and Workshop by topic “Specificities of social business creation and management”.

The event took place on 8 November 2021 and was supported by Igor Hîncu social entrepreneurone of the first people to be able to register a social enterprise in the Republic of Moldova.

During the event, practical aspects related to the creation and management of social enterprises were offered, based on motivation.

Igor Hîncu’s personal motivation:

‘Altruism. I was born into a more religious family that doesn’t take it the best. I have been taught that I am persone who may make it even harder. I was taught to help. Altruism means offering, without waiting for anything in return”

“Social responsibility. We help and don’t wait to be helped. Everything is like a living bumerang. The good will come when you need it most and at the most unexpected moment”.

State that has been revived thanks to social entrepreneurship

The webinar gave the example of Germany, which managed to grow after the Second World War with the help of social enterprises. They succeeded in record time by giving entrepreneurs the motivation and the opportunity to fight together with the authorities to reinvigorate society as a whole.

In this vein, the participant Tatiana Dnestrean stated that social entrepreneurship is a good solution for people in need of social assistance, just as social entrepreneurship does not only provide a short-term solution for people with disabilities, as is the case with charity support. According to Tatiana Dnestrean, social enterprises provide long-term solutions, offering a job, training and involving people with impairments in the economic and social cycle.

At the same time, within the framework of Workshopincreased attention has been paid to the issue of loyalty of persons for whom they are offered a second chance.

“These people are motivated to generate the maximum result, to justify the expectations the employer has towards the entire team they manage”.

Finally, attention has also been paid to the profitability of a social business, or the feasibility element of a social enterprise is as important as in traditional entrepreneurship.

Another important outcome of the workshop is that this event laid the groundwork for the creation of new partnerships in the field of social entrepreneurship.

At the same time, several people working as social entrepreneurs expressed their willingness to set up working groups to identify gaps and solutions to the challenges of the field.
