SMEs will be supported by the State for greening activities
Small and medium-sized enterprises in the Republic of Moldova will be supported by the state to implement environmentally friendly practices. The initiative was made public today, 28 November, at the International SME Conference “Moldova Verde” with the official launch of the SME Greening Programme.
Minister for Economic Affairs and Infrastructure Anatol Usatyi stated that the “Greening SMEs” programme is geared towards achieving the priorities set by national green economy policies, strengthening business support infrastructure for SMEs by expanding greening services.
“With this Programme, the Government of the Republic of Moldova aims to support as many businesses as possible in the implementation of greening actions, the adoption of standards, the use of environmental technologies and innovations”, stressed the Minister of MEI.
Iulia Costin, Director General ODIMM, highlighted that the Programme will provide an integrated approach to support companies in introducing greening practices.
“The support is intended for SMEs in sectors with significant environmental impact or using environmental performance as a factor of competitiveness when entering international markets. Priority will be given to SMEs that bring eco-innovations, green products and services to the market, "said Iulia Costin.
The Greening SMEs programme includes 3 strands: developing the information toolkit and implementation infrastructure, providing financial support in the area of greening SMEs and monitoring and post-financing support. Through this programme, at least 150 companies will be selected for funding in the implementation of greening actions, the adoption of standards, the use of green technologies and innovations. At the same time, around 3000 people are expected to benefit from information support and at least 400 companies are expected to be trained/trained to be able to implement the principles of the green economy.
The programme will be implemented by the Organisation for the Development of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises and will run for a period of 36 months (years 2019-2021) with the possibility of extension. The budget amounts to RON 60 million for the entire implementation period.
