Organisation for the Development of the Small and Medium-sized Enterprises Sector organised an online information session with the general “Support instruments for greening the HLF”.

Opening the event, ODIMM Director-General Iulia Costin stressed that small and medium-sized enterprises’ application of sustainable production and consumption patterns will help to make resource use more efficient, promote exports and create new jobs.

“Domestic companies can benefit from support for greening their businesses through the” Greening the Lighthouse Programme”. In addition, ODSMEs in collaboration with the EU and development partners: UNIDO, UNEP, OECD, World Bank, Green for Grouth Found provides SMEs with a toolkit to support business greening in the areas of eco-innovation implementation, energy and resource efficiency”.

Iuliana Drăgălin, State Secretary of the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure, stressed that”Greening of the Light” it is a tool to support and develop their capacities for adopting practices for greening production and service delivery processes.

“It is the first time that in the Republic of Moldova, a State Programme for Supporting Enterprises, is conducting to educate the spirit of economic action in the interest of the environment through the responsible use of energy, resources along the value chain, as well as raw material management, waste recycling and reuse”, stated Iuliana Drăgălin, State Secretary of the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure.

Greening the HME, stressed in the context Minister of State of the MEI, offer Moldova a range of opportunities so that our country can fully benefit from the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement (DCFTA), as well as achieve the environmental goals of the 2030 Agenda adopted by the UN in 2015, reiterating at this occasion the readiness of the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure to support trends and initiatives beneficial to the environment, the economy and society at large.

Boris Filipov, Programme Manager, Economic Development and Market Opportunities at the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Moldova reiterated the importance of adapting new environmentally friendly technologies.

“SMEs need to adapt to new realities and implement new green technologies. They may face constraints, such as a lack of awareness, resources and expertise, which have worsened during this pandemic period, but there are a number of support programmes. Through the EU4Environment project, we support the actions of governments in the Eastern Partnership countries to develop policies and the regulatory framework for the greening of SMEs. There are also other EU-funded projects supporting the green transformation. It may seem challenging, but efforts in this direction will certainly be compensated, making SMEs more competitive and resilient to potential new shocks”.

Representative of UNIDO, Tatiana Chernyavskaya he presented his support in the Republic of Moldova to promote and develop the capacities of entrepreneurs and specialists in applying resource efficiency and more pure production.

Alex Leshchynskyy, of the UNEP informed the business community about the assistance provided in the implementation of eco-innovations in companies.

Domestic companies were urged to access forms of support according to the priorities and specificities of the businesses they manage.
