Small and medium-sized enterprises boost the country’s economic growth. Development of SMEs in 2016 and implementation of business support programmes
In terms of territory, in 2016 SMEs were mainly located in the mill. Chisinau 65 per cent followed by Central 15 per cent, North 12 per cent and South 5 per cent. Through the Organisation for the Development of the Small and Medium-sized Enterprises Sector (ODIMM), the Ministry of Economy continuously supports the small business through the implementation of business support programmes.
Thus, throughout the entire period of the programme for attracting remittances to the economy, PARE 1 + 1, investments were financed with the support of the European Union. The total amount of the grants granted is approximately RON 152 million and the investment in the economy is approximately RON 550 million. Respectively, each leu granted in the form of a grant generated approximately RON 3,6 of investment in the economy. Of the total number of beneficiaries, 57 per cent invested in agriculture and 24 per cent in services and 19 per cent in production.
Entrepreneurs were able to benefit from financial guarantees of approximately RON 300 million through commercial banks thanks to the capitalisation of the Credit Guarantee Fund (FGC) up to RON 100 million and the application of the multiplier in relations with partner banks. At the beginning of July this year, the disbursement of loans amounting to more than RON 220 million was facilitated and investment projects amounting to RON 343 million were supported for 279 SMEs.
All 10 Business Incubators (AI) incubate 144 companies, generating cumulatively 602 jobs. Of which 42 per cent are women in employment and 35 per cent are young people in employment. The total turnover of AI residents is over RON 94 million, compared to the situation on 31 December 2016.
