17003675 big1495016093 editedThe state of play of the entrepreneurial ecosystem in the Republic of Moldova and the instruments to support the small and medium-sized business were discussed at the National Conference “ODIMM – Pillar of the Entrepreneurial Ecosystem in the Republic of Moldova” on Wednesday 17 May 2017.
The event took place in the context of The 10-year jubilee since the creation of the Organisation for the Development of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (ODIMM).
The Conference was attended by Vitalie IurcuDeputy Minister for Economic Affairs, H.E. Pirkka TapiolaHead of the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Moldova, Alexander KremerCountry Manager for Moldova, World Bank, representatives of the Ministry of Economy of the RM, development partners, international projects, business representatives.
The objective of the Conference was to stress the importance of working together between state institutions, business and research institutions and business to create a sustainable entrepreneurial ecosystem. The event provided a platform for dialogue between central and local public authorities, economic operators and support and research institutions to identify the new models and cooperation mechanisms needed to drive the development of a competitive business environment.
Over 10 years, the Ministry of Economy, in partnership with ODSMEs, has provided support to SMEs by diversifying funding instruments and creating and developing an efficient business support infrastructure, strengthening public-private dialogue. These measures were carried out through national and international programmes, managed by ODIMM.
Over the years, ODIMM has contributed to the development of the entrepreneurial ecosystem in most pillars, such as: regulatory framework, accessible markets, human capital, finance and funds, support systems, entrepreneurship education and training. Thus, during the 10 years of activity, more than 100 thousand Moldovan citizens living in the country or working abroad have benefited from the programmes and projects implemented by ODIMM; more than 2500 companies received funding under the Programmes managed by the Organisation amounting to approx. RON 235 million. During this period, 9 Business Incubators were created in the districts of the country, a further 2 will be inaugurated this year. As a result have been created more than 3700 new jobs.
ODIMM was created on 17 May 2007 by the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Moldova as a public, non-profit, self-management organisation. Among the most important national programmes, managed by ODIMM are the Economic Discharge Programme, PARE 1 + 1, the Young People Economic Rehabilitation Programme PNAET, the Training Programme “Effective Business Management – GEA”, the Credit Guarantee Fund – FGC, etc. The beneficiaries of the programmes, managed by ODIMM, are more than 100000 people.
