Today, 29 December 2020, 88 businesses initiated by young people have been approved for non-reimbursable funding from the state budget by the Steering Committee of the Youth Start Programme – a sustainable business at home. In this way, the 88 companies will receive grants of up to RON 180 thousand everyone, creating over 170 jobs. Throughout 2020 have been funded 152 businesses for a total amount of approximately RON 25 millionthis will encourage investment in the economy of around RON 45 million.

More than half of the selected companies (56 %) to finance will develop businesses in the field of provision of services rental of ATVs, cinema post-production activities; educational services for children; health and social work, photographic and cinematographic services, etc.).

Please note that 43 % of companies are active in the field of manufacturing: Pwood rework/furniture manufacturing, food industry/bakery products manufacturing; production of candles, soaps, cosmetics, natural juices; artisanal chocolate and production of drainage systems, etc. Other 14 % of the businesses that will receive funding do business in agriculture and zootechnics beekeeping; the cultivation of mushrooms; growing of vegetables under glass; potato cultivation; rabbit farm;rearing of poultry for meat and eggs, etc.

Of the total number of companies accepted for funding, around 63 % carries out their activity in rural areasand 37 % active in Mun. Chisinau. The most active municipalities are maybe. Chisinau, Ungheni, UTA Gagauzia, Căușeni, Cahul, Orhei and Ialoveni.

The winners of the grants will develop innovative businesses such as nest production; sensory camera for children with special needs; production of cereal sticks, production of walnut paste, production of vegetable milk from nuts and seeds; educational centre for children, Soroban method; guesthouse of 4 sea containers, end-of-life and reused in an ethno-fusion style; recycling of used tyres by pyrolysis processing system; manufacture of automotive seat covers and mats.

At the same time, of the total number of investment projects approved, 34 businesses will be co-funded (beneficiaries’ own contribution of 20 % of the investment project) by UN Women through the Project “Measures to address the pressing needs of women and girls who are marginalised or in a vulnerable situation aggravated by Coronavirus (COVID-19). This project is implemented by ODIMM in partnership with UN Women, and with financial support from the Government of Japan.

We would point out that, to date, 152 investment projects have been approved for funding, of which: 72 businesses are created/run by women; 19 companies are initiated by young people with fewer opportunities, and 75 % from businesses run by young people, they will be active in rural areas. The national programme “START FOR YOUTH: a sustainable business at home’ was launched in February 2019 and aims to develop entrepreneurship among young people and encourage business start-ups, especially in rural areas, by facilitating access to financial resources, training, advice and mentoring in business management and expansion.
