Organisation for the Development of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (ODSME) provided non-repayable financial support on 4 companies, led by women to promote their products on foreign markets, participating in the second Call for large grant projects, organised within the framework of The Women in Business Programme. Thus, 4 women entrepreneurs who have demonstrated export and innovation potential today signed financing contracts with ODSMEs for a total amount of over RON 6 million, which will encourage investments in the economy of around RON 11 million. 41 companies applied to the competition, which went through a complex and rigorous selection process.

Minister for Economic Affairs and Infrastructure, Mikhail Lupașcu, congratulated female entrepreneurs who have been innovative and have ambitious, export-oriented development strategies.

“The Republic of Moldova needs proactive and courageous entrepreneurs. The Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure will continue to support the entrepreneurial environment in order to build together a healthy and prosperous economy”.

Iulia Costin, Director-General ODIMM expressed confidence that these women entrepreneurs will be an example to follow for other women in the Republic of Moldova, who are active in different areas of the economy with growth potential.

The funded companies are active in the production of: chemical, pharmaceutical (drug manufacturing) and food industries. Of these, 2 companies already have experience in exporting products and want to expand to other markets, including import substitution, and 2 businesses plan to penetrate other markets. The investment projects foresee the creation of 22 new jobs, and the maintenance of 47. Companies employ around 50 seasonal people.

I would point out that, in the context of the first call for large grant projects funded 9 companies with export potential, led by women.

At the same time, through Women in Business Programme have accessed small grants (up to RON 165 per company) 600 start-ups (start-ups), especially in rural areas.

Component III ‘Support to growing companies’ of the Women in Business Programme is aimed at companies active in the market for more than 2 years, created and managed by women and planning to increase turnover and/or number of employees over the next 18 months, by expanding the market for sales, export and innovation, maximising the impact in the economy. The programme provides for the award of grants of a maximum amount of RON 1 649 000 per beneficiary, on the basis of a contest. The value of the non-repayable financial support may not exceed 70 % of the total value of the investment project. Grants are provided from the State budget.
