ODIMM launches a large campaign to promote and develop social entrepreneurship in the Republic of Moldova
Organisation for the Development of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (ODSME) from the Republic of Moldova kicks off a large information and promotion campaigns for social entrepreneurship. The campaign is initiated and supported by Transnational project Finance4SocialChange co-financed by European Union funds (ERDF, IPA, ENI).
The aim of the project is to promote social impact and stimulate the development of companies interested in solving community problems. ODSME is a partner, alongside other 19 institutions of 15 countries in the Danube region.
The campaign to promote and support social entrepreneurship will last one month and includes actions such as:
● Showcasing success stories in social entrepreneurship
● Presentation of educational spots on social entrepreneurship
● Free webinars
● Information sessions
● Workshops, etc.
With this campaign, entrepreneurs, potential entrepreneurs, society will learn about the impact of social entrepreneurship in the Republic of Moldova, how to develop and what tools can facilitate the development of the sector.
Social entrepreneurship it is a phenomenon that has also taken root in the Republic of Moldova over the last five years, but develops more slowly than in European countries, where one of four economic operators is Social entrepreneur.
Extending the reach of social enterprises is important, not least because these businesses, for example, choose to offer employment to people who would struggle to get into a regular company, people with different disabilities, single mothers, elderly people. In real terms, compared to a non-governmental organisation, which is committed to helping underprivileged strata but depends on donations, a social business manages to support itself, also contributing to the development of a country’s economy.
So far, 4 Moldovan companies have been awarded the title of “insertion social enterprises” to the National Commission for Social Entrepreneurship. Other 46 companies they are known to practice social activities on a regular basis.
Statistics show that the social economy in Europe covers more than 14.5 million paid employees, this is the equivalent of approximately 6.5 % of the working-age population, and about one in four businesses created has the status of a social enterprise.
