ODIMM financially supports migrants to set up their own businesses in the Republic of Moldova
58 businesses initiated by migrants or their first-degree relatives will receive non-repayable financial support up to RON 250 thousand by means of “PARE 1 + 1” programme for drawing remittances in the economymanaged by ODIMM. The business owners signed today, 22 June, on an online basis, grant contracts for a total amount of RON 14 million. The investment projects are expected to create around 145 new jobsand cumulative investment in the national economy will be around RON 35 million.
At the beginning of the event, Secretary General of the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure, Lilia Palii stated that the small and medium-sized enterprise sector is one of the basic pillars of the Moldovan economy and is reflected as a key priority in the Government’s work programmes as well as in the national strategic planning documents, in particular National Development Strategy “Moldova 2030”.

We appreciate your determination to develop your business and definitely believe that the remittances attracted and supported by the financial support of the Government and the development partners will facilitate a better future at home. Acting Director-General ODIMM, Emilia Cojocaru encouraged new beneficiaries of the programme to be inventive and constantly looking for new opportunities to succeed in developing successful businesses.
“We welcome migrants’ interest in returning home to realise their entrepreneurial potential and secure a steady source of income. We encourage them not to stop here, to develop, to inform themselves, to create innovative businesses to respond to market demands”.
Companies receiving funding will develop businesses in 24 rayons of the Republic in areas such as: growing of cereals, trees, growing of vegetables in greenhouses, processing of walnut plantations, lavender plantations, accommodation and food activities, health and social work activities, manufacture of clothing, production of herbal teas, wood processing, manufacture of polystyrene products, processing and packaging of dried fruits.
Of the total number of companies accepted for funding, 78 % operates in the countryside, and 22 % operates in mill. Chisinau. In mill. Chisinau activates 12 companies 6 in UTA Gagauzia, how many 4 companies are located in the districts of Cantemir and Ialoveni. 3 in Orhei, Călărași and Hcești, how many 2 operates in the Strășeni, Nisporeni, Ungheni district; Telenești, Căușeni, Cimișlia and one company each will develop their activities in the following districts: Anenii Noi, Sîngerei, Glodeni, Florești, Rîșcani, Dubăsari, Cahul, Ocnița, Rezina, Criuleni and the municipality of Bălți.
The 58 entrepreneurs to contribute with their part of the investment, according to the 1 + 1 rule from the money earned in 12 States Italy, UK, Russia, France, Germany, Romania, Israel, USA, Ireland, Iceland, Greece and Spain.
Of the total applications for funding, 34 businesses (59 %) are created by migrant workers, and 24 enterprises (41 %) they are made up of first-degree relatives of migrants; 18 businesses (31 %) they are created by women, 29 businesses (50 %) they are created and run by young people.
PARE 1 + 1 programme it aims to mobilise the human and financial resources of the citizens of the Republic of Moldova working abroad in the sustainable economic development of our country by stimulating the creation and development of small and medium-sized enterprises. The programme operates under the ‘1 + 1’ ruleso each leu invested from remittances will be replaced by a leu in the form of a grant under the Programme.Grant beneficiaries may be citizens of the Republic of Moldova working abroad and beneficiaries of remittances, first-degree relatives.
During the implementation of the PARE 1 + 1 Programme, access to finance was facilitated for 1757 companies, which made investments in the economy of more than RON 1 billion, of which RON 368 million is the amount of grants transferred under the Programme, so that each RON granted in the form of a grant generates approximately RON 3 in investments in the economy.
