A further 54 investment projects will receive financial support through the “PARE 1 + 1” Discharge in the Economy Programme for migrant workers or their first-degree relatives.

Today, 20 September, the Monitoring Committee of the “PARE 1 + 1” Economic Discharge Programme approved grant applications submitted by companies created by migrants or their relatives for a total amount of RON 13.54 million. It is estimated that around 200 jobs will be created and maintained and that cumulative investment in the national economy will amount to RON 32.39 million.

Alexandru Sonic, State Secretary of the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure, mentioned that the “PARE 1 + 1” programme is a good experience that contributes to multiplying the volume of investment in the country. “SMEs represent 97 % of all companies in the Republic of Moldova and the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure needs to come up with well thought through programmes in the medium and long term to support and stimulate the development of the entrepreneurial field”.

The Director-General of ODIMM, Iulia Costin, stressed that in the 54 companies approved for grants, 63 % are in the expansion and development phase of the business and 37 % in the start-up phase. Of these, 26 businesses will be active in the provision of services (printing and engraving, leisure, catering, event organisation, design, installation of electricity grids, construction and demolition, earthworks, car repair and laundry, freight transport, mechanised agricultural services), 20 in agriculture (growing vegetables, cereals, vines, berries; fruit-growing, bee-keeping, livestock farming) and the other 8 – in industry (manufacture of artificial combs, eco bags, bakery and pastry products, ice cream, semi-finished products, sunflower oil, manufacture of wooden packaging and forged metal articles).

The companies are located in 21 districts of the Republic. 14.8 % operate in the municipalities of Chișinău and Bălți, and 85.2 % in rural areas.

According to data, the 54 beneficiaries invest remittances from 16 states: Belgium, Denmark, the Russian Federation, France, Germany, Ireland, Israel, Italy, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Portugal, the Czech Republic, Romania, the USA, Türkiye and Ukraine.

Programme Seems 1 + 1 "has been implemented by ODIMM since 2010 and aims at mobilising Moldovan human and financial resourceswork abroad in the sustainable economic development of the Republic of Moldova. The programme is financed from the state budget and replaced by European Union funds, and will be extended until 2021.

Since the launch of the programme, 2787 people have registered, of whom 2186 have received training in starting and developing a business. At the same time, 1453 companies received non-reimbursable financing totalling RON 293.12 million, which generates investments in the economy of more than RON 893 million.
