29 January 2024,Chireen — Moldovan small and medium-sized enterprises can be more competitive, with access to new markets. To this end, the Government approved the Programme for increasing the competitiveness of local producers and integration in value chains.

The document contains measures, which help local producers to face competitive challenges in markets and integrate into global value chains.

Through the Programme to increase the competitiveness of local producers and integrate into value chains, companies will be able to access financial support of up to lei 2 million for the implementation of engineering and IT solutions, as well as for applying international and European standards for products and services, carrying out laboratory tests and obtaining certifications.

Marketing consultancy services will also be possible to contract, protect or purchase intellectual property, licensing, and participation in B2B to Business to Business events.

The programme also foresees the organisation of training for the development of entrepreneurial skills in areas such as: management, business planning, marketing, digitalisation, quality management, logistics and financial management.

In 2023, small and medium-sized enterprises accounted for around 99.2 % of the total number of companies in the Republic of Moldova, where they employed more than 65 % of the total number of employees of companies. In 2022 the sector contributed 55 % of GDP formation.

The organisation for the development of Entrepreneurship will be responsible for the implementation of the programme. It is estimated that at least 1300 companies will benefit from this programme. The realisation of all measures implies an estimated budget of 115.5 million lei, to be covered by the State budget, from the project’s “Competitiveness of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises” project with the support of the World Bank, while GIZ Moldova will provide the necessary technical assistance.
