Moldova Government invests lei 17 million in the development of tourism businesses
The administrators of 48 companies in the Republic of Moldova have signed financing contracts with the Organisation for the Development of Entrepreneurship through the Support Programme for the Development of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises in the field of tourism.
The winners of the programme will receive grants totalling lei 17 million and will invest more than lei 35 million in the economy of the country. Grants are awarded by the Government of the Republic of Moldova and co-financed by the European Union.
Thus, by allocating up to lei 500000 per project, entrepreneurs commit to invest in improving the quality of tourism services, developing the necessary infrastructure, upgrading accommodation facilities, leisure facilities or transport infrastructure, including in rural areas.
Interim Director ODA, Gheorghe Iudin, stressed that investment in the tourism sector would strengthen national competitiveness on the international market and renew the interest of diaspography in the return to the country.
‘Statistical data show that in recent years tourism is growing and becoming increasingly visible on the map of European tourism in Moldova. Also, more and more members of the diaspora choose to spend their holidays in Moldova, moving towards the country’s exploration. We want to develop tourism specifically in rural areas that brings us to our places, traditions and, of course, hospitality. So today we commit to both developing your business and encouraging diaspora to return to home”, mentioned Gheorghe Iudin.
Silvia Strelciuc, the management of S & I Project, will receive non-repayable funding in the amount of lei 500000. Business Fema has applied as part of the programme to rebuild the “La mama Catița” cassa-museu in the Grand Slobozia raion. The cassa-uzeu is one of the important tourist destinations in the region, seen as the richness of traditions, habits, traditional horours in the South.
‘ It’s great for us to be part of this programme. We wanted to turn casa-uzeu into a business engine by integrating with other services such as accommodation, degusation of local products and rest and leisure facilities. With this project, we will contribute to public education and strengthen the understanding that investing and sustaining value is essential“”, said Silvia Strelciuc.
The support programme for the development of small and medium-sized enterprises in the field of tourism managed by ODA was launched in autumn 2023. The grant from the Government and the European Union via the Programme is up to lei 500000.
