Development policies and support instruments to revitalise the business environment in the Republic of Moldova in the post-Covid recovery period, with a special focus on digitalisation of business and development of supporting infrastructuretoday, they have been addressed: 12 Julyin a webinar initiated by Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) Eurasia in partnership with Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure (MEI) and The Organisation for the Development of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (ODSME).

During the virtual event, the representatives of OECD briefly presented the analysis of the HMM sector, support measures and development recommendations, and ODIMM he spoke about entrepreneurial support initiatives and mechanisms aimed at supporting the digitalisation and revitalisation of domestic companies.

“ODIMM reacted quickly to all the challenges posed by the pandemic crisis and turned them into opportunities to ensure continued support and development of the business environment in R.Moldova. In addition to all support measures launched and improved, 2020 saw the launch of “Support instrument for the digitalisation of small and medium-sized enterprises”through which 566 companies received training and a non-repayable financial support of 277 MSMEs’stated ODIMM Director-General Iulia Costin.

According to representatives of ODIMMin order to ensure business continuity in the use of modern digital technologies, the project is currently being finalised. SME Digitalisation Support Programmeto be proposed to the Government for approval. At the same time, throughout the year 2021with the support of the Government and external development partners, ODSMEs will launch new initiatives that will increase the competitiveness of SMEs, providing entrepreneurs, including those in difficulty, with opportunities for business development, boosting technology transfer and growth throughout the value chain.

State Secretary General of the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure, Lilia Palii reiterated that the digitalisation of economic processes and support for the HMM sector are of key importance for the revitalisation and modernisation of the national economy.

“The Republic of Moldova has the technological base to advance the digital transformation agenda of the economy. In particular, the priorities for the coming period remain current and include: facilitating remote interaction and promoting digital services for business; creating opportunities to use technology to achieve the goal of financial inclusion; boosting the use of e-commerce by businesses and consumers; simplifying customs procedures when exporting online and boosting postal and courier services; promote and attract regional and international e-commerce platforms to the country. In the coming period, regions will also continue to develop through the creation of Multifunctional Industrial Platforms and support for cluster initiatives”.

The webinar’s agenda included showcasing ODIMM’s and Moldova’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s institutional digitalisation best practices. The event was attended by representatives of public and business support institutions from the Eastern Partnership countries, international institutions and experts.
