21 November 2024, Chisinau — Entrepreneurs in the food industry met as part of an event organised by the National Association for bakery and milling in partnership with ODA to know the innovative solutions dedicated to efficient wastewater management in the business ecosystem.

In the first discussion panel, Sergiu Iordan, Senior Specialist of the ODA Information and Consultation Service, presented the programmes managed by the institution, including the mechanisms for financing business greening initiatives.

Sergiu Iordan stressed the importance of applying ESG principles (Environment, Social, Governance), stressing the need for responsible use of natural resources and the adoption of modern technologies for wastewater treatment as fundamental pillars of economic and environmental sustainability.

“Through the Organisation for the Development of Entrepreneurship, the State invests directly in the sustainable future of our economy. We focus on human capital formation and the development of green infrastructure, which are key to progress. Through free courses for entrepreneurs and employees, we provide the knowledge and tools needed to develop environmental strategies and improve environmental management systems. At the same time, entrepreneurs have the opportunity to access grants through the SME Greening Programme, to implement environmentally friendly practices, strengthening the joint commitment to protect the planet and ensure a prosperous future for future generations.”, said Sergiu Iordan.

Another effective mechanism is Government programme 373that facilitate access to advantageous credit, including for business greening projects.

The programmes support entrepreneurs in implementing sustainable initiatives, contributing to Moldova’s commitment to align European standards by integrating ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) principles into the business ecosystem.

Over the past two years, 140 entrepreneurs in the Republic of Moldova have benefited from funding from the ECO SME Programme, accessing grants totalling more than lei 32 million, which triggered more than lei 64 million additional investment in the domestic economy.

This programme is financed by the Government of the Republic of Moldova and the European Union through ODA.
