The information session brought together business support institutions, local government representatives and companies with export potential and interest in financing green technologies.
His Excellency Signe Burgstaller, Ambassador of Sweden to the Republic of Moldova mentioned that Sweden’s experience is a clear proof that investments in the green economy have a direct impact on economic growth. “The active involvement of the government, academia, research institutions, the private sector and civil society has made it possible to develop and translate innovations and green technologies into concrete actions,” said the Swedish Ambassador.DSC 0037a edited
Iulia Costin, Secretary General of State, Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure stressed that with the signing of the Association Agreement between the RM-EU, sustainable development and the promotion of the green economy are development priorities for the Republic of Moldova. “The green economy actually means an economic environment with less harmful effects on the environment and substantial benefits for society and individuals. At the same time, small and medium-sized enterprises are a key factor for economic growth, innovation, employment and social integration ", said Iulia Costin.
At the meeting, Oxana Paladiciuc, EEN National Contact Point, ODIMM coordinator presented the opportunities for innovation and internationalisation through the largest support network in Europe. “The EEN provides information and advisory services on European legislation, standards and property rights, information and practical advice on regulations and opportunities for the European market for goods and services. Through the EEN, entrepreneurs can also benefit from assistance in identifying business partners and technologies needed for internationalisation, as well as advice on access to finance for research and innovation, "said Oxana Paladiciuc.
DSC 0123a editedSmall and medium-sized enterprises interested in importing innovative technologies for our country can apply for funding under the Demo Environment Programme. According to Richard From, the Swedish Association for Economic and Regional Growth, the programme funds international technology transfers from 14 countries in the following areas of interest: climate change, ecosystem services, renewable energy, water and sanitation, urban development. Planning Grants are awarded to help entrepreneurs explore new markets and study the environmental impact of technology and poverty reduction. In Demonstration Projects, local actors receive funding for importing technologies that provide solutions to local environmental challenges. Grants shall be awarded on the basis of a contest.
Another SME Support and Finance Programme was presented by Natalia Murahovschi, repeater of the Advisory Team for Small Business, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. Companies may obtain subsidies to cover part of the costs of consultancy services.DSC 0156a edited
