At 14.00 on 26 November 2013, the International Conference of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises “Skills, Competitiveness, Growth” took place. Official award ceremony for the annual national competitions ‘Best entrepreneur in the small and medium-sized enterprise sector’ and ‘SME – model of social responsibility’.

Since 2005, Annual National Competition "Best Entrepreneur in the Sector
SME’ it is organised by the Ministry of Economy. It aims to support small and medium-sized enterprises in various fields of activity, which have achieved significant results throughout 2012, thus contributing to the economic development of the country.

This year, on Republican Competition “Best Entrepreneur in the Small and Medium-sized Enterprises Sector” economic operators from 10 districts of the Republic, the municipalities of Bălți, Chisinau and UTA Găgăuzia participated.

The winners of the competition received first degree diplomas from the Government of the Republic of Moldova. grade II and monetary prizes of RON 5 for the first prize and RON 3 for the second prize.

“Best entrepreneur in the small and medium-sized enterprise sector” 2013

The second National competition “SME – model of social responsibility”carried out in the framework of the International Conference of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises “Skills, Competitiveness, Growth”, it is organised by the Organisation for the Development of the Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (ODSME) in collaboration with the Global Compact Network Moldova.

Annual National Competition “SME – Social Responsibility Model” it is the fourth edition and aims to incentivise companies to voluntarily engage in social and environmental activities.

Competition it was organised from October to November this year and is addressed to micro, small and medium-sized enterprises, which in 2012 voluntarily engaged in social programmes and activities and showed a responsible attitude towards employees, customers, community, partners and, more generally, towards the society in which they operate and develop their business.

Competing Small and Medium-sized Enterprises were evaluated according to the Application Form submitted to the Evaluation Committee composed of ODIMM members. The following companies were awarded the prize:

protection of the environment — SRL “Depofarm”, however. Anenii Noi;

b) respect for employees’ working conditions — SRL “Magistrala Nistru”, however. Soroca;

social integration and community support — SRL “Moroi”, s. Kongaz, Comrat district.

The special award went to the company SRL “TinCommerce Grup”, in the city of Ocnitsa, which has carried out important actions in some of the above-mentioned areas.

Prizes forthe proponents of the “SME – social responsibility model” competition were offered by BC Moldova-Agroindbank SA., Evenda and Pro-Noi Library.

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) aims at companies integrating, on a voluntary basis, social and environmental concerns into their business activities and interaction with different groups relevant to the business. CSR is generally characterised by the following aspects: responsible entrepreneurship; voluntary initiatives going beyond legislative requirements and contractual obligations; activities for the benefit of employees, groups relevant to the business (including the company as a whole) or the environment; positive contribution in terms of target groups targeted and minimisation of negative impacts for others (including the environment); regular activities rather than one-off events.
