The state will develop business infrastructure in the regions to help companies grow
Today, the Minister of Economy and Infrastructure, Sergiu Railean, together with Director General ODIMM, Iulia Costin, made a working visit to Soroca’s Business Incubator and the Light Industry Business Centre Techno Textil Hub.
The administrator of the Soroca Business Incubator, Liliana Babără, informed the Minister that the incubator currently hosts 19 companies, of which 4 are start-ups, 7 are run by young people and 12 companies are run by women. In total, they created 111 jobs and have a turnover of RON 2 828 004. Since its opening, 56 companies have benefited from the services of the Soroca Business Incubator, of which 19 are current residents and 37 have graduated companies.
Minister Railean appreciated the institution’s results, stressing that business incubators as infrastructure for developing local entrepreneurship had fully demonstrated their efficiency. He also mentioned that in order to support the 11 business incubators in the country to face the challenges of the pandemic and to strengthen their capacity, recently the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure approved the allocation of about RON 2 mln.
“Business incubators are an important provider of infrastructure and services for young rural entrepreneurs. This platform gives them the chance to successfully navigate the start-up phase and achieve a high level of development and competitiveness. That is why we will continue to develop business infrastructure in the regions to help companies grow ", said Sergiu Railean.
The companies are hosted in the incubator for a period of 3 years. During this period, they benefit from administrative and technical services, business consultancy and guidance, access to finance, and production facilities at a lower than commercial price.
“New jobs are being created in Business Incubators and incubation facilities are being fully exploited by most companies, with residents’ turnover growing. Incubated companies diversify their business and implement innovative ideas. We already have other principles for selecting residents, if initially all the people wanted were incubated, the focus is now on innovation, economic and social impact. ODIMM will continue to support incubators, who will become the main promoters of economic development in the regions, "said Iulia Costin.
The working visit to Soroca continued at the Light Industry Business Centre “Techno Textil Hub”, which is located in the Soroca Business Incubator. Officials became aware of companies’ work, the impact of the pandemic on the production process and employees, but also development plans. There are currently 22 companies in the centre, producing for the internal and external markets.
