The competition was organised as part of the Project Promoting entrepreneurship in rural municipalitiesfunded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs through the Humanitarian Assistance and Development Fund.

Jury member Iulia Iabanji, Director General of ODIMM, argues that young people from the Republic of Moldova have the opportunity to access financial sources for starting and developing a business under the Programmes initiated and implemented by ODIMM.

Around RON 90 million is expected this year for entrepreneurial support programmes, which can be accessed by young people who are already developing businesses and looking for an extension or modernisation of technologies under the Programme for attracting remittances to the economy ‘Pare 1 + 1’, National Programme for Equonymous Youth Empowerment and other new programmes to be launched by ODIMM. According to Yulia Iabanji, the 9 business incubators, opened in the country’s districts, are important support tools for enthusiastic young people with innovative business ideas.

Entrepreneur’s Cup rural was run for the first time at national level and is based on a concept implemented in Estonia.

The project was launched in October and is dedicated to young people in rural regions of the Republic. The project activities were organised in partnership with the Business Incubators of Soroca, Nisporeni and Ștefan-Vodă. The first phase of the competition involved generating business ideas and training teams. The second phase was the Hackathon – a marathon of training and showcasing business ideas that selected 15 teams. The third and longest stage relates to business development through mentoring and peer transfer. The final stage will determine the winner of the Cup, who will benefit from the support provided by the project, including a study visit to Estonia.
