Press conference “Results of the Young Experience project of Smart Solution”
Between 14 April 2011 and 14 April 2012, the Small and Medium-sized Enterprises Sector Development Organisation implemented the cross-border cooperation project for community development ‘Young experiences a smart solution! – Y.E.S.S!’. Partners in the project were: National Foundation for Community Development Iași subsidiary SIASOCIAȚIA COMUNIK For MARKETING and MANAGEMENT CULTURAL, ECONOMIC and SOCIAL, Vaslui branch and COMUNIK ASSOCIATION For MARKETING and MANAGEMENT CULTURAL, ECONOMIC and SOCIAL, Botoșani.
The main activities of this project in line with the proposed objectives were the following:
1. Carrying out a cross-border study on the social/civic engagement of young people in higher education institutions in Romania and the Republic of Moldova, which aims to learn about various information on young people in higher education institutions in university centres in Romania (Iași, Suceava, Galați) and the Republic of Moldova (Chișinău):degree and form of social/civic engagement, motivational aspects of their social/civic engagement or non-engagement, interest in certain activities of a social nature, etc.
2. Running a training programme and personal development of young students (communication skills, teamwork and project management) and increasing the degree of involvement and association to solve community problems identified by the above-mentioned study.
20 teams of 3 students were selected; 15 teams, i.e. 45 young students in terminal years, from Romania, and 5 teams, i.e. 15 students graduated from Moldova.
At the end of the training activity, a camp was organised with the following objectives:
— Simulation of a real tender of projects for the 20 teams with the related projects;
— Selection of the 3 best projects that have been submitted to real calls for projects; in this respect, the proposed target was exceeded because, due to the involvement and motivation of the teams, there were 8 projects submitted for funding under the 2th call of the Romania-Ukraine-Republic of Moldova Joint Operational Programme 2007-2013.
— The formation of the cross-border network of community facilitators; at the end of the project, 2000 guides and DVDs were produced with the aim of disseminating final results and good practices among students who did not participate in the training programme.
The project was supported by the European Union, the Joint Operational PROGRAMME Romania-Ukraine-Republic of Moldova 2007-2013, with a grant of EUR 144.377, representing 89.75 % of the total project budget of EUR 160.866.
