ODIMM launched the Women in Business Programme
Lilia Palii also stressed that the launch of this programme was made possible thanks to the support of development partners, in particular the European Union, which always supports initiatives aimed at developing the country.
The Viceminieter of Economy, Vitalie Iurcu, present at the event, mentioned that this is an important programme for the Republic of Moldova, as it gives women the chance to implement their ideas, and women-led businesses, for the most part, are prosperous and sustainable.
According to Vitalie Iurcu, the government supports any initiative to involve women in economic activity. The programme helps to reduce unemployment among women and to involve them more actively in the development of the country.
Iulia Iabanji, Director General of ODIMM, mentioned that the programme is aimed at women who want to develop businesses in multiple areas of the economy. Priority will be given to innovative and export-oriented businesses, primarily in rural areas of the country, where women are characterised by certain stereotypes and opportunities for business development are reduced.
According to Iulia Iabanji, the programme provides for grants, but also for entrepreneurial support in the form of training, consultations, evaluations, etc. This is indispensable to ensure the sustainability of investments and to enhance the quality of the companies created.
The ‘Women in Business’ programme was initiated in accordance with the Government’s Strategy for the Development of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises for 2012-2020 and the Action Plan for the Implementation of the Strategy for 2015-2017, which provides for facilitating women entrepreneurs’ access to financial resources, training and information resources.
The programme was launched for 3 years and aims to provide financial and entrepreneurial support to more than 400 women, mostly from rural areas of the country. The budget of the programme amounts to RON 51.5 million.
