Octavian Calmîc, Minister of Economy, said that the diaspora contributes significantly to economic growth through remittances from abroad, which account for a significant share of gross domestic product and are in fact the basic source of economic growth in the Republic of Moldova.
In the Thematic Discussion Panel of the Government-to-Business Forum, Iulia Iabanji, the Director General of ODSME mentioned that the Republic of Moldova is making considerable progress in creating the favourable business environment by launching various institutions dedicated to the business and improving the legislative framework related to entrepreneurial activity, which creates the preconditions for attracting remittances investments into the country’s economy.
According to Yulia Iabanji, ODSMEs help to foster public-private dialogue and improve the capacities of local authorities and their motivation to support the development of small and medium-sized enterprises by creating opportunities to launch and develop successful businesses and facilitating SMEs’ access to financial and information resources.
The topics of the discussion session were the future area of information technologies in the Republic of Moldova and the agri-food sector. The session was attended by Iurie Ușurelu, Viceministru of Agriculture and Food Industry (MAIA) and Vitalie Tarlev, Viceministru of Information and Communication Technology (MTIC).
The Diaspora Days took place from 19 to 21 August throughout the country under the patronage of the Government of the Republic of Moldova.
