In the Republic of Moldova, the “European SME Week” will take place from 29 September to 5 October.
The European Week of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SME) promotion campaign is taking place in more than 37 countries and is coordinated by the European Commission. It aims to inform SMEs about the support measures offered by the EU and local, regional and national authorities, and to recognise the contribution of entrepreneurs to improving wealth, creating jobs, improving competitiveness and developing innovation.
In the Republic of Moldova, this initiative is supported annually by a series of large public events in Chisinau and in most district centres: round tables, public debates, training sessions and seminars, exhibitions and other forms of public presentations. They will address a range of topics, based on the realities of the business climate, constraints on the private sector in the Republic of Moldova, opportunities for international business start-ups and scale-ups. It will also promote the history of successful entrepreneurs, organise networking and communication events and create new business partnerships.
In the context of European SME Week, The Organisation for the Development of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (ODIMM) organises a number of activities and events:

Main event, International Conference of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises “SME – The road to European Performance”, it will take place on 2 October at 09: 30 on the premises of the Palace of the Republic. It is organised by the Ministry of Economy and the Small and Medium-sized Enterprises Sector Development Organisation.
The Conference will discuss the realities of the business climate in the Republic of Moldova in the context of strengthening relations with the European Union. Support measures provided by the EU and national authorities to expand the activity of domestic companies in the European market will also be presented. Those present at the event will have the opportunity to participate in the discussions and debate in the three panels:
— European programmes and initiatives
— Access to international markets
— Innovation and Competitiveness.
At the closing session of the Conference, the award ceremony of the winners’ awards and prizes will take place National competitions ‘Best entrepreneur in the SME sector’, 9th edition and ‘SME – model of social responsibility’, 5th edition.
