ENEr2iToday, 4 April 2014, the Conference of Experts in Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Sources of the Republic of Moldova, organised by the Agency for Innovation and Technology Transfer (AITT) in partnership with the Organisation for the Development of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (ODSME) took place. The aim of the event was to carry out an analysis of the national energy sector and its innovation capacities and to discuss the prospects for development and cooperation. The event is part of the series of regional workshops for the European Neighbourhood Programme countries under the Energy to Innovation – Reinforcing cooperation with ENP countries project on bridging the gap between energy research and energy innovation, implemented with the support of the European Union under the 7 Framework Programme.

The conference was opened by Mr Roman Chirca, AITT Director, who welcomed the presence of experts and partners of the ENEr2i project, while mentioning the importance of research and innovation in the field of renewable energy, as well as sharing experiences and international collaboration. Welcome also to the Hungarian guests Mr Bella Kardon, Head of Political Science Department, Ministry of Human Resources.

As a follow-up to the scientific event, a number of communications were presented which addressed the current state of renewable energy resources in the Republic of Moldova, mechanisms to exploit research results, but also opportunities to finance and implement energy efficiency projects in Moldovan companies through the Energy Efficiency Financing Line in Moldova (MoSEFF).

The ENEr2i project was launched in October 2013. The aim of ENEr2i is to accelerate innovative performance by improving knowledge transfer and supporting innovation in renewable energy and energy efficiency.ENEr2i is a vast transnational cooperation programme that fosters the link between research and innovation in the EP countries Armenia, Belarus, Georgia and Moldova, and the creation of sustainable cooperation between research and innovation actors in the EU and ENP countries.
