81 women entrepreneurs from the Republic of Moldova received funding from the European Union under the third call of the Women in Business Programme, implemented and managed by the Organisation for the Development of the Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (ODSME).

151 investment projects were registered for the competition, from which the most innovative business ideas were selected. The 81 businesses financed are located in rural municipalities, mainly in the central area (28 %), in the municipality of Chisinau (25 %), in the southern districts of the country (19 %) and in the northern districts (18 %). They would provide 300 new jobs.

Most of the enterprises financed, i.e. 51 %, are active in the provision of services in the fields of education, beauty and event organisation. A further 39 % of the companies are active in the industrial field (manufacture of clothes, frozen products, pastry) and 10 % of the businesses are in agriculture and animal husbandry, whose core activities are: beekeeping, walnut and barley farming. At the same time, under the third call, innovative investment projects were also funded such as: manufacture of gluten-free meal mixes, processing of natural teas and seasonings, hat making, tour arrangement services, manufacture of hand-painted clothes.

The total amount of grants provided amounts to RON 11.02 million, which will generate investments in the country’s economy of almost RON 15.34 million.

In the first two Women in Business calls, 201 women across the country benefited from business development funding, which generated 762 new jobs. The amount of grants approved was RON 28 million, RON 56 million, which favoured investments in the country’s economy of RON 47.74 million. Most companies are active in manufacturing – 60 %, in the provision of services – 31 %, and in agriculture and zootechnics – 9 %.

Programme Women in Business provides for the promotion of female entrepreneurship by facilitating access to business training, advisory services and mentoring, as well as investment grants and business development services managed by women.
