By the Professional Day of the Antrepreneurs 2025, the Government of the Republic of Moldova and the European Union support 105 local affairs with grants totalling more than lei 48.6 million
27 June 2025, Chisinau 105 companies in the Republic of Moldova benefited from grants totalling more than lei 48.6 million, which will stimulate investments of more than lei 107.5 million in the national economy. The funds obtained will be used to purchase modern equipment and make production processes more efficient. This financial support translates into stronger business, better paid jobs and stronger economic prospects for communities across the country.
The support is provided by the Government of the Republic of Moldova, which contributes lei 36.45 million to 57 companies, and the European Union, which supports 44 companies with lei 10.61 million through the “European Union for small and medium-sized enterprises” project.
Four companies also benefit from grants amounting to lei 1.5 million under the Small Producer Support Programme, part of the “EU4Moldova: Local Communities”, funded by the European Union, the governments of Germany, Austria and Poland and implemented by GIZ, ADA and SFPL in Moldova.
These companies now employ more than 1,700 people and at least 680 new jobs will be created with the help of grants.
The excellence of Sa, Jānis Mažeiks, Ambasador of the European Union in the Republic of Moldova, underlined the role of EU support for private sector development:
“SMEs are the backbone of the economy, both in Moldova and the EU, and a key driver of sustainable and inclusive growth. Through grants, technical assistance, guarantees and financial support, the European Union aims to amplify the impact of its support. Moldova’s growth plan and support for energy resilience provide a solid basis for doubling the Moldovan economy over the next decade.
Also in this context, I encourage Moldovan entrepreneurs to engage with European partners and take advantage of the opportunities offered by the Single Market Programme, including the Erasmus initiative for young entrepreneurs.”said Jānis Mažeiks, Ambasador of the European Union in the Republic of Moldova.
Since the beginning of the year, 405 companies have benefited from grants awarded through the Entrepreneurship Development Organisation for a total amount of lei 169.4 million. This support triggered more than lei 339.5 million of planned investments in the domestic economy.
Of all beneficiaries, 267 companies were financed by the State budget, 127 received support from the European Union through the project “European Union for Small and Medium Enterprises” and four companies were backed by World Bank Group funds. Moreover, seven companies benefit from the “EU4Moldova: Local Communities” programme, funded by the European Union, the governments of Germany, Austria and Poland and implemented by GIZ, ADA and SFPL in Moldova.
The Professional Day of the entrepreneur was established by Government Decision on 29 May 2024 and is marked each year on 27 June.
