A new Business Incubator in Moldova

On 23 November at 11.00, the official opening of the Business Incubator of the Council took place. Rezina, Sciusev Street 9\ 3.

The opening ceremony was attended by Mr Valeriu LAZĂR, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economy; Head of the Political and Economic Section of the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Moldova, Mr Wicher Slagter, representatives of central and local public authorities, business community, local community, representatives of international projects, media.

Business incubator in Rezina (AND) it is an institution that gives entrepreneurs with viable business ideas the chance to realise them in the right environment. Resident companies benefit from low-cost production facilities and offices, entrepreneurial advice and training, advisory support when purchasing equipment, reduced management costs, other facilities and advantages.

Minister for the Economy Mr Valeriu Lazar in his speech he mentioned that the development of Business Incubators is supported by the EU Sectoral Support Programme “Economic stimulation in rural areas’ it is a very good tool to encourage business in Moldova, but also a method to educate entrepreneurship in society. “It is now very important to strengthen the private sector, boost it, make it competitive, so that it also has an impact for our citizens on the other side of the Dniester river. From this point of view, opening an incubator here in Rezina is a step towards replicating this practice on the left of the Nistrum. This is why we envisage launching a business incubator in the first months of next year and in Coșnița, Dubăsari. I believe that it is our moral duty to support the people of Transnistria in developing their businesses. When incubated companies reach a level of stability and autonomy, they will be able to leave the Incubator and continue to operate on their own, facing competition and in the long term "– said the Minister of Economy in his address to entrepreneurs.

The Head of the Political and Economic Section of the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Moldova, Mr Wicher Slagterstressed that the opening of the Business Incubator in Rezina is an important support for the development of SMEs in Moldova.

Business incubator in Rezina it has an area of 1 600 square metres and initially hosts 15 companies, including production-oriented companies, which will create at least 60 new jobs as a result.

The fields of activity of the economic operators resident in his Business Incubator. The outcome is as follows: consultancy services in the field of information technologies and studies in English and French; the supply of advertising services; making of clothing; the provision of tourism services; cosmetology services; design and fitting-out services of green spaces; food and beverage service activities; household appliance services; construction project preparation services; manufacture of furniture; making up of doors and thermopane windows; accounting services.

We would point out that two more business incubators will be set up in 2012 in the Sîngerei and Dubăsari districts.

The renovation process of the building for the Business Incubator in Dubăsari Rayon is currently being completed.

In this context, the Government of the Republic of Moldova appreciates the role of the SME sector in the development of the national economy. The experience of the European Union shows that the SME sector can make a substantial contribution to achieving GDP, creating new jobs, diversifying the market in goods and services, boosting exports.

Note: Business incubator in Rezina is the 3th incubator created with EU financial support, on the basis of the Policy Matrix for the Sectoral Support Programme ‘Economic Boosting in Rural Areas’, in line with the priorities of the Government of the Republic of Moldova in establishing the appropriate business support infrastructure the needs of the business environment, predominantly in rural areas.
