DSOIMM promote the digitalisation of Moldovan business. In this regard, 99 companies from Moldova will receive funding in the total amount of around Lei 8.4 million to improve or transform the business process through the use of digital technologies. The money will be allocated by The “Supporting Tool on the digitalisation of the HMM”, financed from the State budget and cleared from development partners’ funds (European Union and GIZ Moldova). The implementation of investment projects will generate investment in the economy of about Lei 10 million. The second design contest under the support instrument participated 210 companies, which have undergone a complex selection process.

Appropriate the decision of the External Programme Oversight Committee, which took place online, 46 business will benefit from Grant up to Lei 200 thousand each for the digitalisation of processes within the enterprise and others 53 — of Business vouchers up to Lei 20 thousand each to access website development services and setting on the social media pages of the business.

Diaglin IULIAState Secretary at the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure, Chairman of the Support Instrument Oversight Committee, highlighted the importance of digitalisation of business for ensuring resilience to economic crises, such as the one caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. “In this period, it is imperative that entrepreneurs modernise their business models, moving towards online platforms, in order to make easier use of their products and services”.

Director General ODIMM, Iulia Costinappreciated the continued interest of entrepreneurs in modernising production processes, innovation capacity and marketing strategies. “We are convinced that the use of information and digital technologies will significantly increase the competitiveness of companies in both the internal and external markets”.

Of total 46 selected companies to obtain Grants around 29.4 % are in the services sector, 23.5 % – manufacturing, 19 % – agriculture, 9.8 % – practice information and communication technologies, 5.9 % – catering and around 12 % in other areas (mortgage, leisure, construction, transport, etc.). 59 % of companies are in mun. Chișinău, 19 % – in the North region of the country, 16 % – in the Centre and 6 % in the South region and UTA Găgăuzia.

At the same time, those 53 enterprises which have been approved for funding under the support in the form of Business voucher they will be able to contract services for developing its own webpage, setting up social media pages, developing the online profile and describing the business of the company and its products, joining market-place platforms, offering online payment opportunities and integrated logistics issues. Of the total number of companies that will benefit from vouchers, 46 % operate in the City of Chișinău, 23 % in North, 21 % in the Centre region, and the remaining 10 % are registered in the South region and UTA Găgăuzia.

The Support Instrument on the digitalisation of the HEIC was launched in June 2020 to support the digital transformation and development of small and medium-sized enterprises to unlock the innovative potential and facilitate companies’ access to domestic and external markets. So far, 466 companies have been trained and 180 have been financially supported by Grants and Business vouchers. The programme is financed from the State budget, which is set up by EU funds and GIZ Moldova with the financial support of the German Government, being implemented by the ODIMM in partnership with the COR Association GoOnline, the Startup Moldova Programme developed by the TEKWILL project, with the support of USAID, Sweden and UK aid.
