97 businesswomen will receive a grant from the Women in Business Programme
Today, 30 December, the Women in Business Programme Supervisory Committee, which includes representatives of state institutions, donors, private companies and business associations, approved 97 investment projects submitted under the 4th Project Call. The total value of the grants granted amounts to RON 12.35 million, which will stimulate investments of approximately RON 18 million in the national economy.
Present at the Committee meeting, Iuliana Drăgălin, State Secretary of the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure, reiterated the state’s support for female entrepreneurship. “Women in Business is a valued programme in the economic environment, which has shown beautiful results and we are glad that we can give our women the chance to do business”.
Iulia Costin, Director-General ODIMM, stressed that the development of female entrepreneurship is a priority for students.
“This programme is a springboard for women who want to develop a business but do not have sufficient financial resources and entrepreneurial skills. At the same time, supporting women in running a business helps to reduce unemployment and actively involve them in community development”.
Funding for the 97 companies managed by women will create around 230 new jobs and maintain 158 employees.
Some 49 % of the investment projects approved today are in the manufacturing sector (light industry, processing and packaging of agricultural products, production of traditional souvenirs, repair and production of furniture, creation of three-dimensional objects, production of combined fodder, etc.), while a further 41 % will be active in the provision of services (digital development centres, consultancy services, foreign languages, ballet school; It, carting and quadrocycling sports club; catering; beauty salons; physiotherapy centre; cleaning services) and 10 per cent are from agriculture and animal husbandry (beekeeping, rearing of pigs, geese, rabbits, cows, etc.).
So far, 379 investment projects have been selected for funding under the Small Grant Window through the Women in Business Programme. The maximum amount of non-reimbursable financing under this component is RON 165.000 per beneficiary, which may be used to purchase investment items and business development services.
The winners of the investment projects selected today will be invited on 15 January 2020 to ODIMM to sign the financing contracts.
