Of the total number of applications, 22 are active in agriculture (growing of cereals and vines, establishment of walnut plantations, planting of trees and drinks, animal husbandry, beekeeping and growing of medicinal and decorative plants in protected areas). A further 8 businesses will be active in the provision of services (studying, photography, recreation, land processing, construction and earthmoving, transportation, repair and washing of motor vehicles and repair of computing technology) and 3 in industry (manufacture of concrete, cement and plaster, processing of walnut kernels and bakery products).
The business ideas proposed by the migrants will be implemented in 16 districts of the Republic of Moldova (5 businesses are located in the Teleneș district, 2 each in the districts – Căușeni, Criuleni, Edinți, Florești, Hâncești, Nisporeni, and Râșcani, one business each in the districts – Cimișlia, Fălești, Ialoveni, Orhei, Sângerei, Strășeni and Taraclia). 7 other beneficiaries of the Programme are from the municipality of Chisinau.DSC 1044 edited
Of the 33 businesses approved for non-repayable financial support, 11 are start-ups and 22 are in the scale-up phase. Beneficiaries will invest remittances from 13 states: Canada, Switzerland, Russian Federation, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Lithuania, United Kingdom, Macedonia, Poland, Romania and Spain.
15 companies are created/run by migrant workers, who have returned from abroad, and 18 companies by first-degree relatives of migrants. At the same time, 6 businesses are created or run by women and 18 companies will be run by young people.

The government programme “PARE 1 + 1” is implemented by the Organisation for the Development of the Small and Medium-sized Enterprises Sector with the financial support of the European Union. It aims to mobilise the human and financial resources of Moldovan migrant workers in the sustainable economic development of the Republic of Moldova by stimulating the creation and development of small and medium-sized enterprises by migrant workers and recipients of remittances. The programme operates under the ‘1 + 1’ rule, so that each leu invested from remittances is replaced by a leu in the form of a grant. The amount of the grant is RON 250 000.
